Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the championship lead from his teammate by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, beat the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team followed a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he lost control at corner four during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the track edges before spinning across the escape zone, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the session, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn before the final corner on to the pit straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, over half a second behind Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
